
An orientation programme on “Sports Injury and Rehabilitation” was conducted at National Public School, Kengeri, Bengaluru, on 12th November 2025. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the causes, prevention, and management of sports-related injuries, as well as the importance of proper rehabilitation for a safe return to physical activity.
The event began with a warm welcome address by the faculty, followed by an introduction of the guest speakers — medical professionals, Dr N Krishne Gowda, DGM-Admin & Liaison, Corporate Governance, legal & Risk Compliance, Apollo Shine Spoc, Karnataka Region; Dr. Viresh M Murgodi, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Dr. Martina Johnson, Physiotherapist, from Apollo Speciality Hospital, Bengaluru. They shared valuable insights on maintaining physical fitness, recognizing early signs of injury, and the significance of proper warm-up and stretching routines.
The doctor explained sequence of sports injury prevention, risk factors for sports injury- intrinsic and extrinsic; factors in the prevention of sports injury- warm up, stretching, protective equipment, environmental factors, appropriate training, psychology and nutrition while the physiotherapist demonstrated simple exercises and techniques for maintaining fitness. The students actively participated in the interactive session, asking questions and sharing their experiences related to sports and fitness routines.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the guests from Apollo Speciality Hospital for their informative and engaging session. The orientation proved to be highly beneficial, motivating students to stay active while being mindful of their health and safety during sports activities.
