MUSIC - VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL

“Music is an art that makes everyone involve”

In NPS Kengeri, we believe and give utmost importance to this art.

Music classes are held during school hours where students learn the nuances of music from a professional music instructor. The Music Department strives to discover, nurture and fine-tune musical talents.

Activities that happen in the music classes are voice tanning, rhythm training, preparation of  songs for the various occasions, music quizzes and games, traditional raga training, notes and music theory and listening sessions. Students are also taught the art of playing the harmonium and the Tabla / Keyboard, Guitar, Congo, Bango and  Rhythm Pad. Apart from bringing   honours to the school by way of winning awards in various interschool music competitions, the children enjoy their everyday music classes, which is a welcome relaxation.

National Public School, Kengeri, Bengaluru which is culturally inclined also has tabla , keyboard, Guitar, Congo, Bango, Rhythm Pad and Piano classes.  Here, students are trained in these subtle art forms that have the power of enchanting and soothing the soul.  They are given the guidance and support required for them to become accomplished performers. Students are also encouraged to accompany vocalists at school functions and programmes.

DANCE - WESTERN AND CLASSICAL

Dance teaches children about music, rhythm & beat. Students also have a better understanding of spatial relationship & learn to think with both side of their brain. Such charming activities fascinate our children to learn the importance of fitness & movement in a variety of ways through discipline. Girls are more inclined towards classical i.e. Kathak & Bharatnatyam whereas western & contemporary dance is the first choice of our boys.

YOGA

Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle Science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It encompasses a range of physical, mental and spiritual practices. At NPS Kengeri, we encourage and practice yoga in all classes to increase awareness of breathing and regulate it willfully.

In the primary classes, yoga is dedicated in promoting the development of strength, flexibility, and confidence, as well as making individuals aware of their body and mind.

Practicing yoga in higher classes is helping children in improving their self-control, focus, and attention span, also enables them in maintaining a balanced metabolism.

The ultimate purpose of yoga in its truest sense is to bring harmony to the body, mind, and spirit, and this is the significance of yoga that NPS Kengeri strives to achieve.

AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM (ACP)

NPS Kengeri has collaborated with Ramakrishna Mission New Delhi & has started a value based Programme called AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM (ACP) for middle school students. It is a 3-year graded value education program and comprises a total of 48 modules.  Each year has 16 modules of PowerPoint presentations conducted by teachers who are trained as facilitators through a well-developed ACP- Facilitator’s Development Program.

The Awakened Citizen Program is unique in both the content and the way it is facilitated in the class rooms.  The methodology followed by ACP – revolves around for steps unfolding of Discovery, Acceptance, Reflection and Transformation within the child.  It emphasizes that each child is unique and has infinite potential within themselves.

As per the ACP- Facilitator’s Development Program, each module to be taken for a group of students where students go through the explorations and come up with their opinion based on their environment and circumstances. Facilitator will not judge the student’s opinion as ‘right’ or ‘wrong’.  Facilitator questions the students to analyze their opinion in a deeper aspect. It further enables the students to develop faith in them, discover values and make responsible choices.

ACP aims at empowering students, through various explorations, enabling them to take an appropriate decision which emphasizes them to integrate values in their lives and bring about a transformation from within.
