Overview / CBSE TRAINING - “FINANCIAL LITERACY”

CBSE, in collaboration with ‘Jeevitam’, conducted sensitisation training programme on “Financial literacy and use of Digital Tools” on 13 February, 2024, for the teaching and non-teaching staff of National Public School, Kengeri, Bengaluru, at its premises. The training session aimed at creating awareness about basic financial planning, to help educators to stay updated, to avoid falling prey to phishing and cyber frauds and to plan their future in a better way. This initiative is a part of activities related to Investor Education and Awareness in terms of SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996.

The resource person of the day was Sri Vidyarani. K, Financial Literacy Counsellor, at Anekal Taluk panchayat, working in lead Bank, RBI, NABARD to educate students, MSME, teachers, self-help group, senior citizens, farmers, etc about central government schemes like social security schemes government schemes and mutual schemes.

The training session was attended by majority of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution. During the session, the resource person focussed on some key aspects of financial planning, sensitised the audience about the importance of savings and various saving schemes like PMJJBY(Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana), PMSBY(Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana), SSY(Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana), APY(Atal Pension Yojana), Ayushman Bharat Scheme, NPS(National Pension Scheme), PPF(Public Provident Fund), investments in property, gold, insurance, stocks, bonds, bank deposits; digital payments; types of frauds; details of mutual funds- its structure, types; and also about complaint redressal mechanism both for online and offline cases.

The training session equipped the audience with the knowledge to make informed decisions, leading to greater monetary stability, less stress, and a higher quality of life. Financial literacy empowered the audience to take control of finances, navigate the challenges and opportunities that arise in achieving financial wellness.
