CBP Workshop

CBP workshop on Competency-Based Education (CBE) and National Education Policy (NEP 2020)

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." – W. B Yeats

A Capacity Building Program on Competency-Based Education (CBE) aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) was conducted on 2 January 2026. The program was led by Mr. Vasudevan Natarajan, of Super Sunday, aiming at enhancing educators’ understanding of outcome-oriented education through the integration of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude (KSA), effective pedagogy, assessment reforms, metacognition, social-emotional learning, and the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching–learning processes.

The objectives of the Program were to understand the KSA framework and its alignment with competency-based education, compare KSA with effective pedagogy, cognitive, and psychomotor domains, explore learning hierarchies, metacognition, and misconception management, to familiarize participants with NEP-aligned frameworks such as NCF, NCrF, NIOS, and ABC, to highlight the role of AI and emerging technologies in teacher preparation and to align syllabus revision with National Focus Group (NFG) recommendations.

The topics discussed were- Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude (KSA) Framework, emphasizing that true competency emerges from the holistic amalgamation of Knowledge – conceptual understanding and awareness, Skills – application, performance, and psychomotor abilities, Attitude – values, ethics, disposition, and emotional orientation. KSA was compared with effective pedagogy, highlighting its linkage with Cognitive domain – thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, Psychomotor domain – physical skills, coordination, and execution and Affective domain – attitudes, values, and emotional responses.

The Capacity Building Program provided comprehensive insights into competency based education under NEP 2020. By integrating KSA, metacognition, SEL, assessment reforms, policy frameworks, and AI-driven tools, the program empowered educators to design meaningful, flexible, and future-ready learning experiences aligned with national educational priorities.
