Integrating Social-Emotional Learning into classroom practices and school culture

CBSE-CBP on Social-Emotional Learning

A Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on the topic Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) was conducted on 14th May 2026 at National Public School Kengeri, Bengaluru. The session was facilitated by Ms. Manisha Kaul and Ms. Saritha Santosh, who provided valuable insights into the importance of integrating Social-Emotional Learning into classroom practices and school culture.

The programme aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of SEL and its role in promoting students’ emotional well-being, academic growth, positive relationships, and responsible decision-making. The resource persons explained the five core competencies of SEL — self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making — through interactive discussions, activities and presentations.

The workshop emphasized the need for creating a safe, inclusive, and empathetic learning environment where students feel emotionally secure and motivated to learn. Various reflective activities, and collaborative exercises were demonstrated to help teachers effectively incorporate SEL practices into everyday teaching-learning processes.

The facilitators also highlighted the significance of teacher well-being and emotional balance in fostering a positive classroom atmosphere. The participants actively engaged in group activities, and presentations which made the programme highly interactive and enriching.

The programme was informative, inspiring, and beneficial in strengthening educators’ understanding of holistic education and student development. The session was appreciated by all participants for its meaningful discussions, and valuable guidance towards nurturing emotionally resilient and socially responsible learners.
