With growing concern about environment, it is important that students should understand the nature of the environment as well as its components. With this in mind, the school Eco – club “AZURA” was formed. The name derived from the word Azure meaning blue – a reference to Earth being a blue planet.

The main objective of establishing this club was to,

• motivate the students to keep their surrounding clean by undertaking plantation of trees.
• promote ethos of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water.
• sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags.
• to organize awareness programmes regarding various environmental issues.

Various activities conducted in this club are :

1.Logo designing for Eco – club and an emblem

Here students were asked to create a logo for Eco – club and an emblem for particular group based on their group names as Awesome Orchids, Talented Tulips, Creative Carnations, Dashing Daisies, and Lively Lilies.

2.Saving the environment by making Best out of waste

It is an extraordinary idea of using unwanted material in a useful way. This is being done to teach students the importance of conserving the resources.

The item made was pointer or pencil case.

3.Collage work on : Alternative sources of energy

Collage was taken up in Eco – club to create awareness among students and to make them understand the importance of alternative sources of energy like biomass energy, wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, hydroelectric energythus reducing the environmental pollution.
