Professional development of teachers to enhance their teaching skills

CBSE Workshop - Experiential Learning

CBSE strives to cater to the continuous professional development of teachers to enhance their teaching skills. In order to achieve this objective, a two-day Capacity Building Programme workshop was organized by National Public School, Kengeri, Bangalore, for its teachers. on 16th and 17th May 2024, on the topic, “Experiential Learning”

Lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries marked the start of the session. The resource persons of the workshop, Ms. Alka Gupta, Principal, National Public School, Whitefield, Bengaluru and Ms. Mitali Archit, Principal, Nagarjuna Vidyaniketan, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, conducted the session in a very interesting manner. Around 60 enthusiastic teachers from the school attended the enriching session, and enhanced their teaching skill.

 

The session began with an ice-breaker group activity and discussion about reflecting on our experiences. The  topics dealt in the session were-Theories of Learning, Learning Pyramid, Experiential Learning Pedagogy, learning objectives, learning outcomes, Blooms Taxonomy, Kolb’s cycle, linking learning objectives to their attainment through LAAR strategy, using multidisciplinary approach in Kolb’s cycle, and multiple intelligences. The teachers prepared and presented sample lesson plans and projects groupwise, using bloom’s taxonomy and Kolb’s cycle.    

Key Focus

Collaboration was a key focus of the workshop. Teachers teamed up to create lesson plans and projects, fostering a strong sense of community and shared learning. This collaborative effort not only strengthened their professional bonds but also enriched their teaching practices through the exchange of diverse perspectives and creative ideas.

The resource persons ensured the whole session was lively and interactive through handouts, PPT slides, videos and thoughtful activities. The teachers participated actively in the interactive session and had many take aways to implement in classroom teaching.
