"Knowledge is power- understand your body, respect your body"

Health and Hygiene Awareness Programme

On 14 June 2025, National Public School, Kengeri, organized a Health & Hygiene Awareness Programme aiming at educating students of Grades 6, 7, and 8, with the primary goal of empowering young girls with knowledge and confidence to manage personal hygiene and healthy living habits.
The core belief of the session was “Knowledge is Power-Menstruation Awareness Programme” , and was designed to spread awareness, bust common myths, and create a safe, respectful environment for learning and discussion. A key part of the talk, titled “Breaking the Taboo – From Powerless to Empowered,” focused on shifting the mindset from shame and secrecy to pride and confidence. To enhance understanding of the topic, age-appropriate, engaging videos were shown, explaining the biological process of menstruation and proper hygiene practices. The session also covered specific school rules and support systems in place, to ensure that girls feel safe, comfortable, and supported during their menstrual cycle.
The programme concluded with a healthy and open discussion, where students were invited to share their thoughts, ask questions, and express their feelings without hesitation. This interactive segment was a highlight, as it fostered openness and mutual respect. The Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme on “World Menstrual Hygiene Day” was a significant step toward breaking stigmas, building confidence, and promoting safe hygiene practices. The session was deeply impact and well received by students, marking a progressive move toward a more informed and empowered generation of young girls.
