Awareness about the importance of mental and emotional wellness among educators

Nurturing the Nurturers

A workshop on Mental Well-being for Teachers titled “Nurturing the Nurturers” was conducted at National Public School, Kengeri, Bengaluru. The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of mental and emotional wellness among educators, while providing practical strategies to maintain balance and positivity in their personal and professional lives.

The resource persons were Ms. Ribea Golappa, Program Director-Psychology, Drishti Counselling Centre and Ms. Jasmine, a dedicated psychologist from Drishti Counselling Centre

The workshop began with an enlightening session on the mental and emotional health challenges faced by teachers in today’s fast-paced educational environment. The resource person highlighted the significance of self-care, stress management, and mindful living as essential tools to enhance well-being.

An important part of the discussion centered around perimenopause and women’s health, providing valuable insights into physical and emotional changes during this stage and ways to manage them effectively. The session also covered the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and recognizing signs of burnout early.

Participants engaged in interactive and informative activities designed to promote relaxation, self-reflection, and peer support. These activities encouraged teachers to express their emotions freely and share their personal experiences, fostering a strong sense of community and empathy among participants.

The workshop further emphasized the role of positive mental health practices in creating a nurturing classroom environment. Teachers explored simple mindfulness exercises and self-care techniques to manage daily stress and build resilience.

Group reflections and discussions enabled participants to exchange strategies, share challenges, and commit to incorporating small but meaningful changes in their routines.

The session concluded with participants expressing a renewed sense of motivation and emotional strength to continue their role as educators with greater awareness and compassion. The “Nurturing the Nurturers” program at National Public School, Kengeri, was an overwhelming success. It served as a reminder that a teacher’s well-being is fundamental to building a happy and effective learning environment. Every participant left the session with valuable takeaways on prioritizing self-care, emotional balance, and holistic wellness.
