Orientation Programme Media and Democracy

Imbibing this quote NPS, Kengeri conducted an Orientation Programme for Grade 10, 11 and 12 on 12th September, 2024.

The objective was to give an insight about the importance of Media’s role in a Democratic Country. In a democracy, the media educates, informs and entertains – including through news, opinion, analysis, satire and drama. It is a key route through which the public hears about politics, and it plays an important role in shaping the public agenda and forming public opinion.

Mr. Timothy Franklyn, Founder Principal , NSOJ, Bengaluru was the Resourse Person. Mr Franklyn presented an extrapolator details presentation on different aspects and perception on various influences across the country during elections. The Resource Person also demonstrated the real phase of voting by creating an opportunity for Mock Election of School Captain. As expected the result was based on populous and not on service oriented.

The Interactive session gave a platform for the students to clarify their doubts and to have a better understanding about the reality.Mrs. Vani, Editor, NIE, Times of India also graced the session along with Principal, Mrs. Geetha Dikshit, Vice- Principal , Mrs Suman Singh and Coordinator .

The session gave an opportunity for the students to gain awareness with a practical demonstration, which made them to think and ponder over the role of Media, Election and Voting in a Democratic Country.
