National Public School, Kengeri, Bengaluru had organized a Road Safety Orientation Program for the students of Grades VI and VII on July 30, 2026 to foster safety and responsibility.
The initiative aimed to instil essential road habits, personal responsibility, and heightened traffic awareness among young learners. The occasion was graced by Vice Principal Mrs. Suman Singh, dedicated faculty members, and Chief Guest Mr. Ramalinge Gowda from the Kengeri Traffic Police Station, accompanied by his team, who provided expert guidance on road safety.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address that established the guiding motto: “Safe Roads, Safe Lives — Safe Today, Safe Tomorrow, Safe Always!” To make the topic relatable, an engaging storytelling session featuring two contrasting characters—”Smart Sammy” and “Speedy Sally”—was presented to the students. Through this narrative, learners discovered that true confidence on the road stems from making prudent, responsible decisions rather than risking safety for momentary speed.
Following the narrative presentation, students received a practical briefing on core road safety habits to adopt in their everyday routines. Key rules emphasized included using zebra crossings, obeying traffic signals, wearing helmets on two-wheelers, and fastening seat belts in four-wheelers. The police team also cautioned students against using mobile phones or headphones while walking or cycling, advising them to always follow the classic visual check: looking left, right, and left again before stepping onto any street.
Adding a hands-on element to the learning, the traffic police team conducted interactive creative activities for the students. Learners shared their daily commuting habits on post-it notes, drew and coloured the traffic junction surrounding their school, and designed vibrant safety placards.
The session concluded with an inspiring address by Chief Guest Mr. Ramalinge Gowda, followed by a formal vote of thanks. The orientation culminated in a collective pledge where students committed to serving as safety ambassadors, pledging to always “Be Smart. Be Safe. Be Responsible.”
